ACEC American Consulting Engineers Council (now American Council of Engineering Companies) ) selected them out of 162 firms to receive the prestigious Grand Conceptor Award. Accomplishing this while using less water than before makes more water available for power generation, reducing the need for an alternate energy source. Testing of the completed RSW during the 2002 spring migration documented the effectiveness of the structure's unique design with fish passage results that exceeded expectations. Additional testing is planned for future years, with the Corps and other regional stakeholders looking at potential future sites where an RSW might improve fish passage and water usage.
