JACK White's latest recipe for success was to record sweet music in an old candy-making factory.

He said: "We recorded at Third Man Studio, which I built out of an old candy candy: see confectionery.

 techniques, various panels, lots of secret things. It's the reason the record sounds the way it does." The group - also comprising The Kills' Alison Mosshart and The Raconteurs "Little Jack" Lawrence and Dean Ferita - recorded the album while exhausted after a tour.

Jack added: "I had a slipped neck disc and was in therapy for months, I lost my voice and Alison's was scratchy. But we kept pushing to see what could happen."
