) today announced general availability of Jacada Integrator 3.6, which adds full Web services support to Jacada's legacy integration offering.

Without altering the existing application, this new functionality exposes existing business logic and data locked up in legacy systems as open, reusable Web services. This latest version of Jacada Integrator continues the evolution of the world's leading legacy integration solution and represents Jacada's commitment to incorporating legacy application logic and data into the world of distributed computing.

According to Gartner, Web services is expected to become the dominant mode of deployment for new application solutions for Fortune 2000 companies by the year 2004. This architectural transformation is being driven by the need for a more flexible enterprise architecture to accommodate rapidly changing technological and market demands.

"When developing a Web services strategy, it is necessary to consider the role legacy systems will play in the architectural mix," said Mike Chandler, director of product management for Jacada. "Mainframe and midrange systems still house over 70% of the core data and applications that run today's business processes. Using Jacada Integrator to make valuable legacy business processes available as Web services, allows organizations to take a non-invasive, low-risk approach toward delivering loosely coupled software components over the Internet."

With this new release, Jacada Integrator now offers a risk-free approach to testing and implementing Web services. Support for Web services is just the latest in a long list of `client types' supported in Jacada Integrator, including XML XML
 in full Extensible Markup Language.

Reusable services created using Jacada Integrator can be quickly redeployed as Web services, literally with the push of a button. An organization can use Jacada Integrator today to integrate legacy systems with new applications and Web initiatives using any number of client-side adapters - putting organizations only a click away from Web services when needed.

"It has long been Jacada's commitment to insulate our customers from changing interface standards," said Chandler. "Investments made with Jacada Integrator today can be completely leveraged in the future as new client environments, such as Web services, emerge."

Development with Jacada Integrator is accomplished using the product's visual-modeling tool, MapMaker map·mak·er

MapMaker navigates through the screens that will be used to accomplish the desired transaction or transactions and builds an actual map of the application flow. From this map, developers choose a particular transactional path of screens, and associated actions, inputs and outputs to create a Web service. Jacada Integrator provides all the necessary components for creating and using Web services including the automatic generation of the Web Services Description Language “WSDL” redirects here.
