DENVER -- New Releases Provide Rich Development Tools and Features to Extend Presence Information into Other Applications, Improved Usability, and Enhanced Security Features

Dubbed the "King of Flexibility" by InfoWorld Magazine, Jabber An open standard for instant messaging (IM). There are tens of thousands of Jabber servers on the Internet, most of which are privately run within a company or college campus. Driven by the requirements of Fortune 1000 companies and OEMs, Jabber, Inc. is billing the new releases as a collaboration of the best technical minds in the financial, national security, logistics, manufacturing, technology, telecommunications and health care fields.

Jabber XCP Developer Extensions include:

--Information Broker: Lets Jabber XCP publish real-time, highly changeable information to subscribers, based on their presence, essentially making Jabber XCP 4.0 a real-time information and intelligence clearinghouse. Based on a publish-and-subscribe model, the Information Broker is a scalable content distribution method for delivering rich, real-time information to diverse users and resources.

--Web Services Interface: Integrate Jabber XCP presence and messaging capabilities into other applications using SOAP-based Web Services APIs.

--Presence Mirror: Access users' availability information via a database connection.

Other significant Jabber XCP 4.0 features include:

Jabber Messenger 3.0

Jabber, Inc. is coupling the release of Jabber XCP 4.0 with a thoroughly re-engineered Windows desktop client, Jabber Messenger 3.0.

"Jabber Messenger 3.0 improves the end-user experience while introducing unprecedented flexibility, and it's all built on an extensible framework for which we'll release SDKs and our first plug-in, for WebEx collaboration, later this year," said Kris Skavish, director of product management for Jabber, Inc.

Significant Jabber Messenger 3.0 features include:

--Internationalization and Localization Customizing software and documentation for a particular country. It includes the translation of menus and messages into the native spoken language as well as changes in the user interface to accommodate different alphabets and culture. --User Customization Options: Allows users to customize display, notification, and other user preferences to suit the way they work.

--User-Friendly Wizards: Users quickly learn most common tasks, such as joining a text conference room, adding a contact, create and edit keyword filters, and manage server connections.

--Accessible Message Histories: Users can more easily retrieve historical messages by viewing message history dates next to the main window, lending context to a current conversation.

--Improved Management of Text Conferencing Rooms: Jabber, Inc. improves its best-of-breed multi-user text conferencing capabilities with user preferences for content filtering, room entry on startup, and more.

Jabber XCP 4.0 and Jabber Messenger 3.0 will be generally available on September 30, 2004.
