JV FOOTBALL: VIKES ROLLS RIGHT ALONG.

Valencia High's junior-varsity football team continues to impress under new coach Chris Casillas. The Vikings, coming off a 19-0 road victory against previously unbeaten Arroyo Grande, are 4-0 and have outscored opponents 84-21, including two consecutive shutouts.

``We're finally getting in a groove with our offensive line, and the defense is doing its job shutting everybody down,'' Casillas said.

``We're playing well, and we've just got a tough team. There's great talent at the school.

``A lot of these kids were 10-0 on the frosh team last year, and they want to keep that unity and tradition, and they want to fight to keep that streak alive.

They haven't lost a high school football game yet.''

Jason Trujillo keyed the victory over Arroyo Grande.

He ran for two touchdowns, passed for a another and had an interception on defense. Gary Cox rushed for 160 yards on 15 carries, including 106 yards in the second half. Cox also made several impressive plays on defense.

--Aguirre on the run again: Josue Aguirre, who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown in Canyon's 45-7 victory over Highland of Palmdale last week, leads all Foothill League JV running backs with 585 yards and seven touchdowns.

Aguirre has rushed for more than 100 yards in three of four games for Canyon (4-0). Against Highland, he had 127 yards by halftime.
