JURY IN PENNSYLVANIA FINDS FOR COOPERS & LYBRAND IN SUIT BROUGHT BY MUTUAL ASSURANCE

NEW YORK, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Coopers & Lybrand said today that a jury in Montgomery County State Court in Pennsylvania took less than four hours to decide that the accounting firm was not liable for business losses suffered by Philadelphia-based Mutual Assurance Company.
The insurance company had sought $5.6 million in damages contending that the audits performed by the firm for 1981 and 1982 caused the company to sustain losses on its reinsurance business.
The favorable verdict, which was rendered last Friday, ended a four- week trial.
