JUDGE OKS AGREEMENT TO RESOLVE CENTER TIFF.

CANYON COUNTRY -- A development that includes a regional shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  has cleared a hurdle, with a judge's decision to validate a settlement agreement among a developer, the city and a citizens group, officials said Monday.

, developer of the Golden Valley Ranch project, had been battling in court with the Golden Valley Ranch Task Force, the citizens group.

 a 920-acre open space preserve dedicated as part of the project, with the task force arguing that the settlement had not been properly implemented.

But a judge last week ruled in favor of the city and the developer.

``This will help to move the project forward,'' said Lisa Hardy, planning manager for the city.

A representative from the task force could not be reached Monday for comment.

Golden Valley Ranch, which will be built east of the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  at Golden Valley Road, will have an open-air shopping center anchored by Kohl's, Target and Lowe's. PacSun will build the shopping center, and a housing development with nearly 500 homes is slated to be built by Pardee Homes.

The shopping center is expected to open in fall 2007, said Paul Giuntini, president of PacSun.
