Ginny and Dean Knouse of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and friends at the Lobster Trap Lobster Trap

Family in attendance included the couple's two children, Clark Knouse of Redding Redding, city (1990 pop. 66,462), seat of Shasta co., N central Calif., on the Sacramento River; inc. 1872. A principal tourist center for a mountain and lake region, it also has lumbering, food-processing, and diverse manufacturing.  and Janet Knouse-McDonald of Oxnard, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Many friends, some of whom the couple have known since childhood, also attended.

 in 1949 and served 30 years until retiring in 1978. He then established an insurance-fraud investigation agency, Western States Investigators, which flourished until his second retirement in 1990.

Ginny was a homemaker when the children were young, then began a career at Sav-On Drug Stores that lasted until 1978, when she also retired and became part of the investigation team.

Since their second retirement, the couple enjoys golfing, traveling, spending time with their family and staying involved at their church.

Ginny's advice for couples just beginning married life is: ``Don't have unrealistic expectations of each other. We all have faults that we need to accept.'' She also says never to leave an argument unfinished. Couples need to talk things over and solve things.

Dean adds: ``You have to have real love, not infatuation. Only real love can make it through the hard times.''
