JUBILEES : LIFE'S STILL A GOLDEN PICNIC.


The golden wedding anniversary of James and Virginia Sheehan of Panorama City was celebrated with 40 friends and relatives at an afternoon picnic in Simi Valley's El Rancho El Rancho may refer to:
  • El Rancho Charter School, a public charter school located in Anaheim, California
  • El Rancho High School, a public school in Pico Rivera, California
  • El Rancho Hotel & Motel, a Gallup, New Mexico Hotel listed as a National Historic Site
 Park.

The couple met and dated while attending North Hollywood High School North Hollywood High School, originally called Lankershim High School when it opened in 1927, is a secondary school in North Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The school mascot is the husky, and the school colors are blue, white, grey. , with Jim graduating in 1943 and Virginia in 1945.

Jim served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II. The couple corresponded during that period and resumed dating after Jim's wartime service ended, followed by their wedding in St. Charles Catholic Church in North Hollywood.

A member of the Plumbers Union Local 761, Jim worked as a plumber in construction until he suffered a heart attack in 1974. He served as coach and manager of an Arleta Little League team while their son, Jim Jr. of Granada Hills, was growing up. Nowadays, Jim is an avid golfer.

Virginia did clerical work for the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Unified School District's Science Resource Center in Reseda until her retirement in 1993.  while the couple's daughter, Kristine Gherardi of North Hills, was a Scout. Today she enjoys painting and arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. .

The couple are members of the San Fernando Elks Lodge and the Travel Elkdom Group, with whom they have enjoyed many years of camp-outs. They are also members of the American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. .

The Sheehans have three grandchildren - Kevin Gherardi and Molly and Sara Sheehan.
