Charles and Ephronia Nazarian of Van Nuys celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 28 at a surprise barbecue with 100 family members and friends. The Studio City event had a tropical theme and was hosted by the Van Nuys chapters of the Knights and Daughters of Vartan and the Nazarians' four children - Alice and son-in-law Jack Kahveciyan of Northridge; Lucy Haroutunian of Van Nuys; Richard and daughter-in-law Cyndi Nazarian of Agoura; and Anna and son-in-law Ed Schramm of Sandpoint, Idaho Sandpoint is a city in and the county seat of Bonner County, Idaho, United States.GR6 Its population was 6,835 at the 2000 census.

 and worked in his father's restaurant. He and Ephronia, promised to each other at a very young age, were married in Aleppo, Syria, on Sept. 3, 1939. Finally, on Dec. 17, 1945, Ephronia left Syria by ship for New York's harbor, where she and Charles were reunited "Reunited" was a #1 hit in the United States in 1979 by the Washington, D.C.-based group Peaches & Herb.

Charles is a retired news editor whose 55-year career began at the Knickerbocker News in Troy, N.Y., then the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Herald Examiner and concluded with 14 years (1966-1980) at the Valley News and Green Sheet, now the Daily News. He is also founder/editor emeritus of Armenian International Magazine (AIM), based in Glendale.

Ephronia is a retired tailor and homemaker. She now lovingly takes care of her husband, who is in poor health.

Charles was once asked by a well-known celebrity at a Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  show: ``What is your secret for being happily married so long?'' The couple have been blessed with seven grandchildren GRANDCHILDREN, domestic relations. The children of one's children. Sometimes these may claim bequests given in a will to children, though in general they can make no such claim. 6 Co. 16.  and four great-grandchildren.
