JUBILEES : DANCING THROUGH MARRIED LIFE.


Howard and Betty Stone of Canoga Park celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Canoga Park Women's Club Women’s clubs first arose in the United States during the post-civil war period. As a result of increased leisure time due to modern household advances, middle class women had more time to engage in intellectual pursuits. , where 92 family members and friends gathered to celebrate with them. The event was a gift from their children - daughter Sharon Haswell of Oxnard; daughter Rhoda and son-in-law Pat O'Connor of West Hills; daughter Sandra and son-in-law Ken Meddock of Irvine; and son Howard Jr. and daughter-in-law Luana of Woodland Hills.

Betty is from Hardin, Mont., and Howard from Wichita, Kan.

The two met at a dance in Sherman Oaks after Howard was discharged from the U.S. Army after serving during World War II.

The Stones have lived in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Betty worked for Pacific Telephone in Reseda before her retirement. Howard is a retired carpenter.

Betty enjoys working with ceramics ceramics (sərăm`ĭks), materials made of nonmetallic minerals that have been permanently hardened by firing at a high temperature, or objects made of such materials. . She and Howard both bowl and are active in the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection resurrection (rĕz'ərĕk`shən) [Lat.,=rising again], arising again from death to life. The emergence of Jesus from the tomb to live on earth again for 40 days as told in the Gospels has been from the beginning the central fact of  of Canoga Park. They enjoy occasional trips to Laughlin, Nev., as well as going camping, where Howard fishes and Betty reads.
