JUBILEES : CELEBRATING 50 YEARS IN WINNER'S CIRCLE.

Robert and Ruth Bozick of Sherman Oaks celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 24, 1998, at the Sierra Vista Terrace of the Santa Anita Race Track Turf Club with 50 family members and friends joining them for an afternoon at the horse races.

During World War II, Robert served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a pilot flying B-17s over Europe. He was discharged from service in September 1946, and then joined the military reserves in which he was active until he turned 60, retiring with the rank of major.

Both Ruth and Robert grew up in Los Angeles. She graduated from Lincoln High School, he from Belmont High School.

The couple met at a party, dated for seven or eight months and were married in Las Vegas on Oct. 24, 1948.

Robert is a retired Los Angeles Senior Building and Safety inspector. He was active in the Sherman Oaks National Little League, and due to his active participation and dedication to the league, Bozick Field in Sherman Oaks was named for him.

Ruth was a homemaker and mother to the couple's three children - Karen Coxe of Ione, Calif.; Robert of Tyler, Texas; and Gary of West Hollywood - and served as Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout troop leader. She is a longtime member of the 12th Church of Christ, Scientist, in Van Nuys.

The couple have four grandchildren and enjoy spending time at their mobile home in Santa Maria and playing the slot machines in Laughlin, Nev.
