The system is a smaller, lighter, more capable version of previous systems. The modular High Band Subsystem, downsized from seven hardware chassis to four, is designed to locate, identify, and analyze radar and specialized communications signals that support military operations. Aircraft under consideration that would use this advanced capability include the Global Hawk unmanned air vehicle, the U-2 spy plane, and the U.S. Army's new Aerial Common Sensor The Lockheed Martin Aerial Common Sensor (ACS) platform was a reconnaissance aircraft airframe, for the United States Army and Navy. The aircraft would have been able to detect troop movements, intercept enemy communications and radar transmissions, and communicate with other program (follow-on to Guardrail and Airborne Reconnaissance Low).
