"Becoming demand driven is a fundamental shift in how to do business and can improve revenue by 10% and profitability by 5% to 7%," said Lora Cecere, AMR Research Director, in an AMR Research report.

In The Handbook for Becoming Demand Driven (July 2005), AMR Research outlines five essential cross-functional strategies to become demand-driven. One is demand-driven replenishment, and offers an example of a JRG customer who has implemented their on-demand factory scheduling service.

"Through Wise's focus on demand-driven replenishment using the JRG technology," explains Cecere in the report, "it is now better able to sense demand, shape manufacturing schedules to seize incremental opportunities, and align manufacturing teams and assets to more profitably respond to the demand signal."

Software as a Service Finds a Home in SNO (August 2005) reports that 26% of companies said they are considering on-demand service offerings for 2005. One area they are looking at is manufacturing scheduling. On-demand supply chain management is becoming increasingly attractive as global manufacturers start to build DDSNs with a highly distributed blend of in-house and contract manufacturing.

"JRG is one of a few companies offering Software as a Service (SaaS) for factory scheduling," commented Simon Jacobson, AMR Research Program Manager, in the alert.
