Deutschland, officially Federal Republic of Germany, republic (2005 est. pop. 82,431,000), 137,699 sq mi (356,733 sq km). 8/24/06 -- JPK JPK Jabatan Pembangunan Koperasi (Malaysian Cooperative Development)JPK Joseph Patrick Kennedy Instruments AG has acquired lpi lightpower instruments GmbH GmbH Gesellschaft mit Beschränkter Haftung (German: limited liability company; business entity) , which develops optical nano-instrumentation for life science applications. JPK Instruments is a manufacturer of nanoanalytic instruments, including atomic force microscopes atomic force microscope (AFM), device that uses a spring-mounted probe to image individual atoms on the surface of a material. Unlike the scanning tunneling microscope, which is also a scanning probe microscope, the AFM can be used on materials that do not conduct and related accessories, for life science research. Torsten Jahnke, chief technology officer of JPK, stated, "lightpower instruments becomes JPK's business unit for advanced optical technologies, strengthens and diversifies our R&D capabilities in this field and fills furthermore our product portfolio with exceptional new instruments." lpi's life science focus fits with nAmbition, JPK's new subsidiary, which specializes in scanning tunnelling microscopes for nanobiology applications. |
