The North Carolina General Assembly founded NC State on March 7, 1887 as a land-grant college under the name North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts.
. JPI's Campus Quarters group is working in conjunction with the North Carolina State University Student/association, also known as the Wolfpack Club. With total enrollment numbers on the rise, the Wolfpack Club assessed market demand and determined that the best use of its property was new student housing. This project continues the Wolfpack Club's commitment to students by providing a unique, convenient and quality living environment for NCSU NCSU North Carolina State University  students and athletes. The community is scheduled to open in August 2004 and will provide 121 two-, three- and four-bedroom apartment homes on a three acre site adjacent to the NCSU campus.

Initial designs show a "U" shaped four-story wood structure with an adjacent four-story parking garage providing 390 spaces. The garage connects to the residential building via walkways at various points. The project includes 16 two bedroom two-bath apartments, 12 three-bedroom two-bath apartments, 47 four-bedroom two-bath apartments and 46 four-bedroom four-bath apartments, and will be located on the southwest corner of Western Boulevard and Avent Ferry Road Ferry Road is one of the major roads of Edinburgh, Scotland, and is often referred to as an area in its own right. It runs from the eastern end of Davidson's Mains village in the west, to Leith in the east, passing through Goldenacre on the way. , adjacent to the main entrance of the university.

The community will be leased "by the bed," which means individual residents will be responsible for individual leases, alleviating the liabilities normally associated with roommate situations. Amenities include a resort-style swimming pool, onsite tanning tanning, process by which skins and hides are converted into leather. Vegetable tanning, a method requiring more than a month even with modern machinery and tanning liquors, employs tannin; its use is shown in Egyptian tomb paintings dating from 3000 B.C.  facilities, a fitness center, 24-hour computer center, study room and a recreation lounge where residents may enjoy a game of pool or foosball, or use the room for other gatherings with fellow students.
