 NATION'S LARGEST DIRECT MARKETING COMPANY
 WINDSOR, Conn., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert "Kam" Kamerschen, chairman and chief executive officer of ADVO, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: ADVO), the nation's largest direct marketing company, today named Joseph P. Durrett as president and chief operating officer. His appointment is effective Sept. 1. Durrett will also join ADVO's board of directors at this time.
 Durrett, 46, currently senior vice president-sales for Kraft General Foods, Inc., has overall sales responsibility for Kraft's seven major operating groups with annual worldwide sales of more than $28 billion.

"He has an impressive track record in sales and marketing that will greatly enhance our development of micromarketing services, enabling us to continue to grow as a leader in this emerging niche. Moreover, he has the leadership characteristics and general management experience to serve in the key role of C.O.O. at ADVO."
 Durrett joined Kraft, Inc. in 1980 as vice president and director of marketing for the Grocery Products Division. From there he rose to the positions of executive vice president-marketing for the Grocery and Refrigerated Products Division, president of the Grocery Products Division and group president-sales and sales operations. Prior to joining Kraft, Inc., he served in a variety of marketing/sales positions at Proctor & Gamble.
 As president and chief operating officer of ADVO, Durrett will be responsible for all of the field operations, as well as sales and marketing junctions and certain corporate departments.
 Durrett has a B.A. in economics from Duke University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
 ADVO specializes in targeted direct mail products and services with an expanding expertise in providing customized micromarketing solutions to its clients' needs. ADVO's brands of Shared Mail -- Marriage Mail and Mailbox Values -- are distributed nationally to over 52 million households weekly. ADVO also processes solo mailings, and offers limited printing and transportation services. It has 20 production facilities and 69 sales offices nationwide. ADVO also sponsors the weekly "America's Looking for Its Missing Children" program in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
