 Foley for several days, then waited with a silencer-equipped pistol behind the car Foley drove to work at the US Embassy each morning. Suweid told the police that he shot Foley at least a half-dozen times and then dashed to a waiting rental car driven by Yasser Fatih Ibrahim, a Jordanian who is also in custody. Both men admitted their roles in the killing, which they said was carried out on the instructions of a superior in Al Qaida whom they had first met in Afghanistan, where all three trained in camps run by the terrorist network. The men identified their superior as Abu Musab Abu Musab (Arabic ابو مصعب) can refer to:

  • Mustafa Setmariam Nasar, also known as Abu Musab al-Suri
  • Mohamedou Ould Slahi
 Zarqawi, an Al Qaida lieutenant and Jordanian who is wanted for his role in a plot to bomb hotels in Amman and Europe in Dec. 1999 during millennium celebrations. Zarqawi's real name is Ahmad Fadeel Al Khalaylah. On Dec. 18, PM Ali Abu Al Ragheb said Khalaylah had fled to northern Iraq and was now with the Ansar Al Islam Noun 1. Ansar al Islam - a radical Islamic group of terrorists in the Iraqi part of Kurdistan who oppose an independent secular nation as advocated by the United States; some members fought with the Taliban and al-Qaeda forces in Afghanistan; said to receive financial  group, which controls a patch of rugged territory inside Kurdish-held northern Iraq. Ragheb said the Al Ansar rebels were opposed by governments in both Iran and Iraq. He said: "We believe he is somewhere in the northern part of Iraq on the borders with Iran".
