JON L. GORNEY AND WILLIAM E. MACDONALD III ELECTED TO EXECUTIVE POSTS AT NATIONAL CITY CORPORATION

 CLEVELAND, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC) today elected Jon L. Gorney and William E. MacDonald III to executive posts at the $28 billion diversified financial services company.
 Gorney, 42, who most recently served as senior vice president, information services and operations, now serves as executive vice president of those areas. Gorney played an integral role in the acquisition integration of National City's affiliate headquartered in Indianapolis, National City Bank, Indiana. The integration, which is the Corporation's most successful to date, will be completed at the end of next month and will result in cost savings of more than $30 million.
 MacDonaldk, National City Bank in Cleveland, assumes the additional title of executive vice president of National City Corporation. He remains chairman of the Corporation's retail business board, the policy-making body for National City's retail banking units in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Most recently, MacDonald served as senior vice president of the Corporation with responsibility for all Cleveland banking and staff functions.
 Profile of Jon L. Gorney
 Gorney joined National City Bank (Cleveland) in 1973. He began his career as a management development trainee and was appointed systems officer in 1977. Gorney was promoted to vice president in 1981. In 1988, he was promoted to senior vice president of National City Bank and director of central information services of National City Corporation. In 1991, he was elected senior vice president of the Corporation with responsibility for information services and operations.
 A 1973 graduate of the University of Dayton, Gorney earned a B.S. degree in computer science. He is a member of the American Institute of Banking, and the Bank Administration Institute. He also serves as trustee of the Elyria Catholic Endowment Foundation and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
 Gorney, his wife Nancy, and their three children live in Elyria, Ohio.

 MacDonald joined National City Bank (Cleveland) in 1968 and held successive management positions in the branch, domestic and international loan divisions. He also was manager of the bank's London office and headed the marketing division before assuming the direction of the retail banking group.
 MacDonald currently is a director of the Corporation's banks in Cleveland and Toledo as well as the National City Life Insurance Company, National City Mortgage Company, and NC Investments, Inc.
 A native of Columbus, Ohio, MacDonald earned his undergraduate degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and his M.B.A. from The Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University.
 MacDonald is a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 1987 and a member of the Alumni Charter Board. He serves as co-chairman and trustee of the Great Lakes Theater Festival; trustee of the New Cleveland Campaign; chairman of The Cleveland Clinic Palliative Care Advisory Board; vice-chairman, director, and member of the Executive Committee of the Convention and Visitors Bureau; and has been active in United Way, previously serving on the board and as a member of several campaign cabinets.
 MacDonald, his wife Susan and their two children live in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
