JOINT VENTURE INCLUDING JOHNSON CONTROLS RECEIVES AUTOMOTIVE SEATING BUSINESS FOR FORD OF EUROPE

 MILWAUKEE, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson Controls Automotive Systems Group (JCI), in a joint venture with Bertrand Faure, a French seat manufacturer, has been chosen as the source to supply complete seats for the 1995 Ford Escort/Orion and the 1996 Ford Fiesta.
 Startup production will be in August, 1994 for the 1995 Ford Escort/Orion models assembled in Saarlouis, Germany; Valencia, Spain; and Halewood, United Kingdom. Seats for the newly designed 1996 Ford Fiesta will start production in August, 1995 and will be shipped to Cologne, Germany; Valencia, Spain; and Dagenham, United Kingdom.
 Johnson Controls and Bertrand Faure plan to establish five new facilities in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom for the new business. All locations will be dedicated Just-In-Time plants and, at full production, expect to assemble seat sets for approximately 6,000 Ford vehicles a day. European production for the Escort and Fiesta in 1992 was 1.1 million vehicles.
 The Automotive Systems Group (ASG) of Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), headquartered in Plymouth, Mich., is the world's largest independent supplier of automotive seating systems. Fiscal year sales in 1992 for the Automotive Systems Group totaled $1.7 billion.
