JOINT STATEMENT FOR WHITEHALL LABORATORIES AND THE NEW YORK ROAD RUNNERS CLUB ON REPORTS OF ILLNESS AT NEW YORK CITY MARATHON

NEW YORK, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York Marathon was ran under unusually hot weather conditions last Sunday -- causing heat stress and dehydration among some of the runners. Contrary to some recent reports, there is no confirmation that excessive use of Advil by a few runners resulted in additional problems.
"In all of the many events that Advil has sponsored with us over the past few years, we have never experienced any problems with people misusing the product," said Allan Steinfeld, president of the New York Road Runners Club.
Nevertheless, Whitehall Laboratories, a company committed to the health and safety of the millions of consumers who depend on Advil for pain relief, reminds consumers to review and adhere to the recommended dosage as described on the package. The maximum recommended dosage of Advil is six pills taken over a 24 hour period.
