 DETROIT, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- John V. Carr & Son, Inc. today


announced an agreement to provide U.S. Customs clearance effective immediately for clients of V.G. Nahrgang Company, a Detroit-based Customs broker.
 "This acquisition is the latest in a series designed to strategically expand our customer base," according to Stephen D. Marr, president, John V. Carr & Son, Inc. "We will work diligently to provide quality service to V.G. Nahrgang clients, and will work closely with Dennis Wright to ensure a smooth transition."
 Added Dennis L. Wright, V.G. Nahrgang Company president and owner, "I'm excited by the opportunities this acquisition presents for our customers. They gain the full complement of international finance and trade services Carr provides."
 V.G. Nahrgang, at 155 W. Congress in Detroit, was founded by Vernon G. Nahrgang in 1931 and was acquired in 1973 by Wright, who will be joining John V. Carr as a member of its executive team. Nahrgang's 13 employees provide Customs clearance for importers including Frank's Nursery and Crafts and Jacobson's stores as well as a number of companies producing plastic injection molds.
 John V. Carr & Son, Inc., a Customs broker and freight forwarding company, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Manufacturers Bank, N.A., whose parent company, Manufacturers National Corporation merged with Comerica Incorporated on June 18, 1992. Carr offers comprehensive international trade services through a network of more than 40 offices in all major ports and inland points of entry nationwide.
