JOHN A. WENTWORTH NAMED TO NEW POST AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, MEDIA RELATIONS FOR PARAMOUNT TV GROUP

 HOLLYWOOD, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- John A. Wentworth has been named to the newly created post of senior vice president, media relations, for the Paramount Television Group, it was announced today by Kerry McCluggage, chairman of the group. In his new capacity, Wentworth will report to McCluggage and oversee all publicity on the group's network, syndicated and cable series as well as trade media relations for the network, domestic and international divisions. In addition, he will continue to coordinate consumer and trade advertising for the group's series produced for the networks.
 Wentworth, 33, has most recently served as vice president of advertising, publicity and promotion for Paramount Network Television, managing publicity campaigns on all series and specials, including this season's final airing of "Cheers" and the launches of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "The Untouchables." His new position will expand his media relations responsibilities to include "John & Leeza from Hollywood," "The Arsenio Hall Show," "Entertainment Tonight," "Hard Copy" and "The Maury Povich Show" as well as the new network series for fall, "Frasier," "The Mommies," "South of Sunset," "Viper" and "Sister, Sister."
 Moving from director to executive director (1987), and ultimately, to vice president (1989) in the network division, Wentworth has handled the national publicity and advertising on such additional projects as "Bob," "Wings," "Brooklyn Bridge," "Family Ties," "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (publicity only), "The Happy Days Reunion Special," the "Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" and "MacGyver," among many others.
 In making the announcement, McCluggage said, "John's promotion not only reflects our confidence in him, but the reorganization of our media relations operations. John will structure a new department to serve the publicity needs of the group's executives and talent as well as those of the electronic and print media. We are pleased to have his expertise and look forward to his contributions."
 From 1983 to 1985, Wentworth served as a manager of advertising, publicity and promotion for Paramount Domestic Television, handling "Entertainment Tonight" and "Solid Gold" as well as coordinating the division's activities at NATPE and BPME.
 Prior to joining Paramount nearly 10 years ago, Wentworth was an account executive in the television division of Rogers and Cowan Public Relations, where he worked on such series as "Dynasty," "Hart To Hart," "The Love Boat" and "Cagney and Lacey," and handled the personal publicity for Sharon Gless, Joan Collins and George Kennedy. Previously he was the assistant to the promotion manager of Columbia Pictures' Boston branch, coordinating publicity for the northeast region.
 Wentworth holds a bachelor of science degree in mass communications from Boston's Emerson College.
 He has held volunteer positions with various industry organizations, including the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (awards committee), SyndiTel (steering committee), Hollywood Radio and TV Society (judge chairman) and BPME (awards judge).
