VALENCIA - Volunteer Joanne Timmerman was presented with an Honorary Lifetime Membership Award, Lea Serlin entered the 30-year club and 200 other volunteers were recognized by Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation during a Volunteer Recognition brunch held April 29 at the Hyatt Valencia.

The event, which took place as part of National Volunteer Week, offered thanks and recognition to the more than 500 hospital volunteers who make up the largest volunteer group in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. .

Foundation President Diana Vose thanked all volunteers for their gifts of time and resources and acknowledged their accomplishments to benefit the community.

About 90 volunteers received pins in celebration of their milestone hours of service at Newhall Memorial, and 40 volunteers were recognized for contributing a combined total of more than 350 years of service to the hospital.

As the event started, Dr. Cecelia Hann, spoke on behalf on the medical staff and thanked the volunteers for their hard work and continuous efforts.

``The binding tie to the community is our volunteer group,'' said Roger Seaver, the hospital's president and chief executive officer. ``We are very grateful and extremely proud of all of you.''
