JOB HUNT BY THE BOOK : SELECTION SPEAKS VOLUMES ON EMPLOYMENT STRATEGY.Byline: Amy Lindgren Knight-Ridder Tribune News Wire If you've been to the library lately, you know there's a dizzying array of books to help the job-seeker. I counted more than 500 titles at a Barnes & Noble store recently. There are books to help with interviews, to choose a career, to become a full-time temporary worker, to start a business and even to not work at all. They are advice or strategy books, with an emphasis on exercises and examples of successful job-seekers. There are also books with labor statistics, or information about specific companies or colleges. Accuracy is a key issue in these volumes, and the job-seeker is advised to double-check any important fact before relying on it. With the prices of new books spiraling upward, you may find it difficult to choose the right book. Here's a little advice from a very cheap person: Before you purchase a book, check your library or with your career counselor.Following are a few of the books I like (this is not a comprehensive list): Salary overview/job descriptions: ``Careers for Nature Lovers and other Outdoor Types,'' by Louise Miller (VGM VGM Video Game Music VGM Virtual General Manager (game) VGM Vakýflar Genel Müdürlüðü (Turkish: General Directorate of Foundations) VGM Voice Generator Module Career Horizons; $9.95).
