JOAN ALLEN OF RIDGEWOOD, N.J., NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS AT AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE

 NEW YORK, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Joan Allen, 47, has been named vice president of corporate communications at the American Stock Exchange. She will be responsible for developing communication strategies to support the Amex goal which is to become the recognized, premier marketplace for growth companies and derivative securities, and will report directly to American Stock Exchange Chairman James R. Jones.
 Allen succeeds Sarah M. Luke who is transferring within the Exchange to join the marketing division as the southeast regional manager.
 Allen brings more than 15 years' experience in the communications field to the Exchange. Most recently she was president of Joan Allen & Company, a consulting firm that specialized in providing marketing and public relations to professional and financial service firms. Previously, she served as national director of communications at BDO Seidman, the seventh largest international accounting and consulting firm.
 Prior to that, Allen served as vice president and account executive at Rubenstein, Wolfson & Co., a New York City public relations firm where she developed public relations programs for diverse financial services clients.
 A graduate of Northwestern University, where she received her bachelor's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism, Allen and her husband, John Wilson, live in Ridgewood, N.J. Their daughter, Timmah, is a student at New York University.
