JETHAWKS ON BRINK AFTER LOSS TO PORTS STOCKTON 11, JETHAWKS 4.

LANCASTER - Kyle Nichols set a new franchise record with his 31st home run, but the JetHawks lost an opportunity to gain ground in the wild-card race after a sloppy 11-4 loss to the Stockton Ports The Stockton Ports are a baseball team in Stockton, California, USA. The Ports play in the Northern Division of the Class A California League and is a minor league affiliate of the Oakland Athletics.  on Friday, when the two teams combined for nine errors.

Lake Elsinore (73-64) lost 7-5 to High Desert, but the Storm reduced it's magic number to one after the JetHawks (71-67) fell 2 1/2 games back in the standings.

Lake Elsinore, which has three games remaining, assured itself of no worse than a tie with the JetHawks, which has two games left. In the event of a tie, the two teams would play one game at Lake Elsinore on Tuesday.

With the JetHawks trailing 6-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Nichols lined a three-run shot to left.

Lancaster, which had three hits, took advantage of two of the Ports' five errors in the fifth inning, when it closed to within 6-4 on Edgar Varela's sacrifice fly. But Stockton broke open an 8-4 game in the eighth on Marc Marizzi's three-run homer off JetHawks reliever Corby Medlin.
