As a member of the Lake Elsinore Storm, Cooper in 1996 faced Seattle Mariner Rickey Jordan, who at the time was on an assignment with the JetHawks. On Tuesday night, it was Cooper the big-leaguer, now in his rookie year with the Angels, on a minor-league assignment with Lake Elsinore facing the JetHawks. Scott Maynard's three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth led the JetHawks to their 12th straight win 4-1 over the Storm, before 2,313 at Lancaster Municipal Stadium. Cooper threw seven innings of four-hit ball, striking out three batters while allowing two walks and one unearned run, but he was not involved in the decision. --Matchup: Right-hander Enmanuel Ulloa (6-3, 4.04) pitches for the JetHawks in the opener of a three-game series against the Mudville Nine at Stockton on Thursday. He will be opposed by right-hander Jason Seabury (7-2, 3.93). MINOR-LEAGUE REPORT Highland High graduate Matt Parris, the Detroit Tigers' seventh-round draft pick, won his professional debut Monday, pitching two scoreless innings with one hit and one walk allowed in the Tigers' Gulf Coast League rookie win against Kansas City. --Monday's top performers: Former JetHawk Alex Fernandez had six hits, including four doubles, for Double-A New Haven in a 10-0 win over Binghamton. . . . Junior Brignac (Cleveland) had two hits, including his third homer, for Single-A Myrtle Beach.
