 JERRY W. LEVIN ELECTED TO ECOLAB BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ Jerry W. Levin, 48, president


and chief executive officer of Revlon, Inc., was elected a director of Ecolab Inc. (NYSE: ECL) by the Ecolab Board of Directors. Prior to joining Revlon as president in April 1991, Levin was chairman of Coleman Holdings, the parent company of The Coleman Company, Inc., and executive vice president of MacAndrews & Forbes.
 Before joining MacAndrews & Forbes, Levin served in a number of senior executive positions with the Pillsbury Company and was chairman and chief executive officer of the Burger King Corporation, a Pillsbury subsidiary. Prior to joining Pillsbury, Levin was vice president at Marsh & McLennan, Chicago, and manager of financial service at Texas Instruments Inc. in Dallas.
 Levin fills the Ecolab Board vacancy created by the death of Robert J. Haugh in June. Levin's term will expire next May, when it is expected he will stand for re-election to a three year term.
 A native of San Antonio, Texas, Levin graduated from the University of Michigan in 1966 with bachelor of science degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics. He received an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1968.
 Ecolab is a leading worldwide developer and marketer of premium cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional and industrial markets. For the year ended Dec. 31, 1991, Ecolab reported sales of $918 million and earnings per share from continuing operations of $1.91 per share. Ecolab shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange and the Pacific Stock Exchange under the symbol ECL.
