JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BECOMES GRAND PRIZE
IN DETROIT INSTITUTE FOR CHILDREN'S RAFFLE AT AUTO SHOW TONIGHT
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- A new 1993 Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee Limited will be the grand prize in the Detroit Institute for Children's (D.I.C.) raffle drawing at 8 p.m. today at the 1992 North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
In an unusual twist of events, Edsel B. Ford II, president of Ford Motor Credit Company, will draw the winning raffle ticket at the Jeep/ Eagle display at the auto show. Mr. Ford is a vice president of the D.I.C. board of trustees.
Chrysler Corporation's (NYSE: C) Vice President of Marketing John B. Damoose and auto show master of ceremonies, Robert Urich, will join Ford in leading the ceremonies.
The grand prize is one of the first all-new Jeep Grand Cherokees to drive off the line at Chrysler's new Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit. Earlier this week, the last pilot Grand Cherokee vehicle made a smashing introduction at the auto show when Chrysler President Robert A. Lutz drove it through a front glass window at Cobo Hall with Detroit Mayor Coleman A. Young in the passenger seat.
Chrysler donated the vehicle to the D.I.C., as the Lincoln-Mercury Division of Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) and the Cadillac Division of General Motors (NYSE: GM) have in past years.
The proceeds from the D.I.C. raffle will fund medical services for disabled children and young adults from disadvantaged families. The Institute provides services to ensure that all disabled children receive care, regardless of family background.
