Closes the Gap between Space and Category Management,

Links Merchandising to Floor Planning

JDA(R) Software Group Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS) announced today that it is launching its new Intactix merchandising modeling software, pro/floor(TM), for analyzing fixture, space, and performance data of products, at the Food Marketing Institute's 2000 Supermarket Industry Convention and Educational Exposition, May 7 through 9, 2000.

Running on Microsoft Windows '95, 98 and NT, pro/floor connects the data, the software systems and the people driving the processes of floor, space and category planning to maximize profitable category and product locations.

"Retailers and manufacturers face a multitude of challenges as they deal with limited floor and shelf space and multiple product assortments for multiple store formats, layouts and categories," said Kevin Stadler, JDA vice president and managing director of JDA-Intactix.

"We've designed pro/floor to help efficiently address these challenges, whether based on a top-down financial plan or shelf-level product demand."

Pro/floor: Retail Floor and Category Optimization

Specifically tailored for retailers who analyze and plan product category size and adjacencies as well as for manufacturers, who analyze destination categories, pro/floor can help users maximize the position, performance and layout of product categories.

Used together with Intactix flagship space management solution, pro/space(TM), pro/floor can link buyers, space and category planners, merchandisers, and floor planning engineers through a seamless software environment designed to enhance the decision-making processes pertaining to each area of expertise.

Highlights include the following:

-- Enhanced merchandising capability. Using pro/floor, users can

create planogram(a) projects that encompass entire aisles,

departments, or stores for comprehensive analysis and

reporting. They can also use pro/floor's merchandising

controls, which are available in three dimensions, to provide

more control over how product fixtures and sections are

merchandised throughout the store. (a)Planograms are

computer-generated, virtual representations of products as

they are placed in retail shelf sets or fixtures.

-- Comprehensive analytics and reporting: Pro/floor gives users

complete reporting control over an entire store system,

individual stores, or individual floor plans. They can use

pro/floor to print planograms straight from layout designs and

incorporate various views with reports and charts into

complete store packages.

-- CAD Compatibility: Pro/floor is designed to work with

floorplan drawings, which are used by architectural engineers

in planning the interior layouts of stores. Pro/floor imports

CAD files as traceable templates for space and

category-oriented floor planning, and it also allows users to

export the work they've done in pro/floor back to the

engineering department. This means pro/floor users can rely on

the expertise of engineers who work with software like AutoCAD

and/or MicroStation for the store's architectural layout

without having to perform merchandising work in a CAD-based

software environment.

-- State-of-the-art, 3D visualization: Pro/floor gives users true

3D walk-through visualization via the latest Microsoft DirectX

technology. They can use it to move through the floor plans

they create and view the virtual representations of the

products and fixtures they have placed on the floor.
