``We're still trying to find the lineup A criminal investigation technique in which the police arrange a number of individuals in a row before a witness to a crime and ask the witness to identify which, if any, of the individuals committed the crime.  for us,'' said Pierce coach Nabil Mardini, whose team lost to El Camino 28-30, 30-25, 30-25, 30-32, 15-12 at last year's state tournament.

``Bottom line, we have a lot work to do in the gym. We've made some good adjustments, but there's a lot of things we're not happy with.''

Pierce avoided a fifth game against Golden West, rallying from a 17-10 deficit in the fourth behind the serving of Tara Henn and the hitting of Ashley Lugo-Brown, who closed out the match with her 27th kill of the day.

``We need to win the close ones,'' Mardini said. ``I think it's good for our team to be in this situation because when we go to state they're going to be in the same situation.''

Against El Camino, the Brahamas scored 10 of the final 14 points in the fourth to force a deciding game, then rallied to tie the score at 13 in the fifth on kills by Jenna Novelli and Lugo-Brown, before El Camino closed it out.

``We respect (El Camino) a lot, but we beat ourselves,'' sophomore Meredith Rice said. ``It was more us than anything they did.''
