fter a successful 2005 season in which the Pierce College women's soccer team advanced all the way to the state semifinals and lost a tough game to Long Beach College on penalty kicks, this year's team was off to a slow start, failing to win its first three games.

But on Wednesday it all came together for Pierce, ranked eighth in the state, with a 2-0 win over host Oxnard College.

Guiliana Facio and Poirsha Woolfork each scored second half goals for Pierce (1-2-1), which did not allow a shot on goal.

AVC to host event: Antelope Valley College will host the So Cal Preview cross country event this Friday at 4 p.m..

The four-mile race will take place at the Lancaster National Soccer Center.

Last year's event was held at UC San Diego and was won by Orange Coast College in both the men's and women's events.
