JC NOTEBOOK: PIERCE, MOORPARK IN TOP 15.

In the first poll released by the Women's Volleyball Coaches Association Rankings this season released Tuesday, both Pierce and Moorpark College's both found themselves in the top 15.

After spilting two matches at the Santa Monica College Santa Monica College was first opened in 1929 as Santa Monica Junior College. Current enrollment is 32,000 students in more than 90 fields of study. The college also has one of the largest international student populations of any community college in the US, with approximately  Tournament this past weekend -- a four-set win over Grossmont and a tough five-set loss to second-ranked El Camino College El Camino College is a two-year public community college located in the city of Torrance in Los Angeles County, California. It is commonly referred to as "El Co" or "ECC". It consists of 37 buildings spanning an area of roughly 26 acres (105,000 m²).  -- Pierce is ranked sixth in the state.

Moorpark, which is off to a 5-1 start, is ranked 11th and will see its next action this weekend at the San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  Mesa Touranent.

College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  also made the rankings at No. 23.

Men's soccer: Mission College's Julian Lopez has six goals and four assists for a total of 16 points to make him the seventh-leading scorer in the state.

Lopez has helped Mission (5-0-2) get off to a fast start this season.

 is the only starting goalkeeper in the state that has not allowed a goal this season. Grimes has played a total of 460 minutes and recorded six shutouts this season for the Vaqueros, who have a record of 6-1-2 and are ranked eighth in the state. ...

Former Montclair Prep High of Panorama City standout Elia Petrosian has scored 11 goals and four assists (26 points) and is the third-leading scorer in the state for Pierce College In 2006 the Library won a national Excellence award. Academics
Pierce College offers associate's degrees, mainly in the arts and sciences. There are also certificate programs in early childhood education, social services, dental hygienist, and others.

The Brahmas will host Glendale on Oct. 6.
