JC CROSS COUNTRY: BERG'S WIN LIFTS GLENDALE TO TEAM TITLE.

LANCASTER -- Tove Berg excels on land and in the water.

The Glendale College freshman was the individual winner at the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Cross Country Championships, covering the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 32 seconds to help the Vaqueros capture the women's team title Friday at the Lancaster National Soccer Center.

Berg, 28, a former competitive swimmer in her native Sweden who works as a researcher in embryonic liver development at the Children's Hospital A children's hospital is a hospital which offers its services exclusively to children. Berg, the Western State Conference champion, passed a big test Friday with a nine-second victory over Sarah Apgar of Southwestern. The Vaqueros defeated Southwestern 85-121 for the team title.

Berg and Apgar will meet again at the state finals Nov. 18 at Woodward Park in Fresno. Glendale will be seeking its first women's state title since 1977.

San Bernardino Valley The San Bernardino Valley is the hub of Southern California's Inland Empire. It is drained by the Santa Ana River. Moorpark men's team was fourth with 171 points.
