JBoss and Sun Microsystems Expand Collaboration on Standards.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. & ATLANTA -- New Multi-year Agreement Underscores JBoss' Ongoing Commitment to the J2EE Platform

JBoss(R), Inc., the Professional Open Source company, and Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) announced today that they have expanded their collaboration on standards through a new multi-year agreement for JBoss to support the Java 2, Enterprise Edition (J2EE(TM)) platform. The agreement is the latest cooperative development between the two companies.

Under the terms of the agreement, JBoss will continue to license the Test Compatibility Kit (TCK) from Sun to assure that future versions of the JBoss Application Server are J2EE compatible. Sun will also provide assistance to JBoss during future product certification testing.

This agreement underscores JBoss' ongoing commitment to the J2EE platform. Over the last year, JBoss has established itself as a technology leader in the Java community and was recently elected by program members of the Java Community Process (JCP(SM)) to the Executive Committee (EC) for the Standard/Enterprise Edition (SE/EE). In September, JBoss delivered the industry's first certified J2EE 1.4 compatible, production-ready open source application server, JBoss Application Server 4.0, to the market. JBoss is also an active participant in the Enterprise Java Beans 3.0 (EJB3) specification, Java Specification Request (JSR) 220 and the Java Business Integration (JBI) specification, JSR 208 Expert Groups.
