JBoss Enhances JBoss Operations Network to Increase Operational Efficiency; JBoss ON 1.2 Adds Software and Security Advisories to Enterprise Management Platform.

ATLANTA -- JBoss(R), Inc., the Professional Open Source company, today announced the latest version of its enterprise application management platform, JBoss Operations Network(TM) (JBoss ON). JBoss ON 1.2 features an update module that integrates software and security advisories for applications built on the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite (JEMS JEMS Journal of Emergency Medical Services

(TM)). JBoss is focused on supporting enterprise customers across the application lifecycle, with JBoss ON critical to the production and maintenance stage.

JBoss ON integrates knowledge access, software distribution and application management. The new update module proactively notifies JBoss Subscription customers of new releases, patches or security advisories relevant to their specific environments, allowing them to deal with updates in an organized, efficient and timely manner. The update module has been integrated into both JBoss ON and the JBoss Customer Portal. JBoss ON 1.2 also has an alert function that notifies users if a particular piece fails and provides an audit trail of every update to each component within the JEMS infrastructure.

"Enterprises today realize the importance of having detailed knowledge about the functionality of their applications," said Richard Friedman, director of product management, JBoss, Inc. "With JBoss ON, our customers feel safe knowing they have control over their JEMS environment and increased visibility over all components of their mission critical applications. JEMS is the most widely deployed middleware suite today and we will continue to enhance our tools to provide enterprise customers with market-leading products and services."

In addition to the new update module, JBoss ON consists of three primary modules: an inventory module that identifies and catalogs middleware assets; an administration module that performs functions such as start, stop and re-start on single applications or across an enterprise cluster; and an optional monitoring module that monitors the entire JEMS platform as well as complementary technologies such as Apache HTTP HTTP

, so having an application management tool such as JBoss ON is essential for deployment and maintenance," said Joy Ingram, director of software development, PSCU Financial Services. "Application performance is key to our business, and application quality issues must be dealt with quickly, using minimal resources. JBoss ON is a valuable addition to the JBoss Subscription that we are currently evaluating, providing a simple, integrated solution for monitoring and updating our JEMS-based applications."
