JBSi (Jones Business Systems Incorporated) and VSI (V-Systems Inc.) today announced the latest version of VSI-FAX 4.1. Available immediately from JBSi, VSI-FAX 4.1 offers a thin-client fax solution for Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Citrix MetaFrame as well as support for SCO's Tarantella and UnixWare 7 NonStop Clustering software technologies.

VSI-FAX 4.1 Key Features

All VSI-FAX 4.1 clients support Windows Terminal Server, Windows 2000 Terminal Services and Citrix MetaFrame. Also, VSI-FAX servers running on the SCO platform automatically support SCO's Tarantella and NonStop Clustering Technologies.

New VSI-FAX Universal Fax Client -- The VSI Universal Fax Client provides users with the ability to send, receive, obtain status and manage faxes from most Java enabled platforms. The Universal Fax Client gives users the flexibility and ease of deployment of a server-based program and the power of a local Java application. Included is support for both public and private directories, print-to-fax, LDAP support, local and server-side file attachments. The VSI Universal Fax Client also delivers on the promise of centralized management and effortless deployment. Once installed, it is self-updating.

Enhanced VSI Outlook Fax Client -- New in the VSI-FAX 4.1 Outlook Fax Client is the ability to edit and save user profiles. Users can also print-to-fax, attach files to faxes and send to both e-mail and fax recipients with a single mouse click. VSI Outlook Fax Client enables users to intuitively manage all fax communications directly from Outlook, alleviating the need for users to switch applications to send a fax.

VSI Web Fax Client -- The VSI Web Fax Client is a browser-based client that enables users to send and receive faxes via Microsoft Internet Explorer (4.0 or higher). The VSI Web Fax Client offers support for both public and private directories, Print-to-Fax from any application, as well as support for local and server-side file attachments. The VSI Web Fax Client also delivers the convenience of Web-based deployment -- there's nothing to install on the client beyond the optional print driver.

Cross Platform Support -- VSI-FAX is a standards based, open system, cross-platform solution that enables faxing from any application on Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, Unix and Linux. New in VSI-FAX 4.1 is support for Red Hat Linux v6.2, Caldera Systems OpenLinux v2.3, SCO UnixWare v7.1.1 and Sun Solaris 8.

Improved Integration Tools -- With the release of VSI-FAX 4.1, users will get the new Outbox COM control to compliment the already robust Software Developer's Kit (SDK). The SDK also provides sample code, a Status COM control and the VSI-FAX print driver. The Toolkit, which includes the SDK, also features a command line interface, autosend directory, XML-F DTD and fax-to-e-mail integration tools.
