JBG Begins Construction of 300 New Jersey Avenue.

WASHINGTON -- The JBG Companies is pleased to announce that construction has commenced on 300 New Jersey Avenue, NW.

Located across Louisiana Avenue from the U.S. Capitol and bordered by New Jersey Avenue, First, C and D Streets, NW, 300 New Jersey Avenue will be a trophy quality, 10-story, 255,000 square foot office building. It will be adjacent to JBG's 51 Louisiana Avenue, a 5-story, 205,000 square foot office building built in 1935 for the Acacia Life Insurance Company. The two buildings will be joined by a glass and steel 9-story atrium which will be one of the most dramatic and complex structures ever erected in Washington. Shaped as a trapezoid, the all glass atrium will be supported by a central structure including stunning steel framework, platforms and bridges connecting the existing 51 Louisiana Avenue building to 300 New Jersey.

300 New Jersey Avenue will offer efficient 25,000 square foot, virtually column free floor plates, state of the art building systems, 9 foot ceilings and floor to ceiling glass along the perimeter walls. When completed, the building will provide spectacular views of the Capitol building.

Designed by Lord Richard Rogers and his firm, London-based Richard Rogers Partnership (RRP), 300 New Jersey Avenue will be the first RRP-designed building to be constructed in Washington, D.C. and the third RRP-designed building in the entire United States. In late 2005, Richard Rogers Partnership was selected by the developer of the World Trade Center site to design 175 Greenwich Street, 3 World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan. The design was unveiled on September 7, 2006 to wide acclaim.

In March of 2006, JBG leased approximately 150,000 square feet of office space to Jones Day, one of the world's largest law firms. The firm, which currently occupies the adjacent building in its entirety, will expand into 300 New Jersey Avenue when the new building is completed in 2009.

Clark Construction Group, LLC, based in Bethesda, Maryland, has been selected as the project's general contractor. Dallas, Texas based HKS is the architect of record.
