 today held a ceremony at Tokyo's Haneda Airport to formally welcome the first state-of-the-art, single-aisle Boeing 737-800 Next Generation (JA301J) to its fleet. This more fuel-efficient,environment-friendly, small size 165-seat aircraft will be used initially on Japan domestic routes from March 2007, operating between Tokyo's Haneda airport and cities in west and southern Japan.

. The aircraft was delivered by Boeing to JAL in Seattle, USA on November 14, 2006, and arrived in Japan on November 19, 2006 after a ferry flight via Honolulu and Guam.

The new aircraft is the first of 30 B737-800 models ordered by JAL, which will be delivered to the airline over the next five years. JAL also has options for another 10 aircraft. The B737-800 has been created using leading-edge technology and design, providing increased performance when compared to other aircraft from the B737 family.
