 J. STEPHEN WEST APPOINTED TO AUDIOSCIENCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MINNETONKA, Minn., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- AudioScience, Inc. (NASDAQ: AUDS) today announced the appointment of J. Stephen West to its board of directors.
West is vice president/general manager of Lucht Engineering of Bloomington, Minn., a manufacturer and marketer of photographic printing and automation equipment.
West's experience as president of GN Danavox, Inc., an Eden Prairie, Minn. manufacturer and marketer of hearing aids as well as his experience as chief operating officer of Vision-Ease Contact Lens Company and presently, Lucht Engineering, brings added strength to the executive team for the company.
Douglas Jensen, president of AudioScience stated the West's general management experience, his focus on profitability and his long range perspective will assist the company in planning and preparing for future generations of products and services.
AudioScience, Inc. has developed, and will shortly manufacture and market, programmable, remote-controlled hearing systems under the PRIZM(TM) trade name and will focus future efforts on medical devices for audiology, otolaryngology and the hearing enhancement market.
The PRIZM Hearing System consists of a hearing aid and a dual purpose remote control module. With the remote control module, the user can adjust volume of the hearing aid and set it for the appropriate listening environment. The remote control module, with the insertion of a key by the audiologist, becomes the programming device for the audiologist by means of which the customer's hearing aid can be customized to his or her particular hearing ability.
Jensen said that providing a person with a PRIZM System would be like giving that person a set of ten customized hearing aids, since the individual will have a selection of ten customized settings from which to choose for the particular listening environment encountered.
