Ixia and Aeroflex Partner to Offer Only Test Platform for Handset Video Telephony Certified by Global Certification Forum.

BARCELONA, Spain -- Ixia (Nasdaq:XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP performance test systems, and Aeroflex, a global provider of high technology solutions to the aerospace, defense and broadband communication markets, announce that they have developed a suite of products that collaborate to support video telephony certification testing. The collaboration will help ensure handsets conform to the test cases selected by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB) for video telephony application enabler certification.

The suite, which consists of Ixia's IxMobile and the Aeroflex 6401 AIME/CT radio test set, performs base station and handset emulation to provide a repeatable and versatile test environment for handset certification. The IxMobile and Aeroflex 6401 AIME/CT are integrated using a proprietary interface allowing communication with the handset under test through a contained, RF interface.

IxMobile is an easy-to-use, out-of-the-box operational test platform that emulates video telephony terminals communicating with handsets under test for protocol analysis, conformance and inter-operability testing.

Network operators use IxMobile for handset testing and acceptance, as well as for video telephony network optimization to continually assess and improve quality of experience for their customers.

IxMobile comes pre-equipped with all necessary profiles to execute the GCF video telephony certification test suite. No programming is required so users simply choose which test case to run and execute it, enabling quicker time to test and better utilization of test resources in the lab.

The GCF and PTCRB focus on handset certification to ensure conformance and interoperability. Most recently, the organizations created a certification test suite for video telephony by selecting a series of test cases established by the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium (IMTC).
