Itronix Announces Availability of the CDPD Digital Cellular Radio Communications Compatibility for the Husky fex21.

Itronix Corporation, a world leader in the design and manufacture of ruggedised, wireless mobile computing solutions, has announced the availability Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) radio communications for its market leading handheld PC, the Husky fex21.

This development is the first step towards a complete US radio offering on the WinCE-based Husky fex21, including compatibility with the BSWD and Motient networks, to be released later this year. With the fex21 and the T5200, another handheld Win CE device from Itronix that already provides access to all three digital radio networks, Itronix is the only company in the US to have multiple Win CE products with integrated radio.

Communications will be performed through an integrated Sierra Wireless Aircard 300, a Type II PC modem card, connected to an Itronix designed rugged antenna. Landi explains, "At no stage can Itronix compromise the environmental characteristics expected of all its mobile wireless, rugged products. In addition, the internal design of the Husky fex21 has been modified to increase the efficiency of the radio interface, thereby significantly improving radio communications. This is very much the first step towards providing an extensive radio communications offering in the US."

The Husky fex21 will soon join the Itronix' T5200 system in supporting the three major radio networks.
