Italian Channels: Gemstar-TV Guide International Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. is a media company that licenses interactive program guide technology to multichannel operators, such as cable and satellite television providers, and consumer electronics manufacturers, video recorder scheduling code under brands such as VCR  Inc. has signed a multi-year patent license agreement with Sky Italia SKY Italia is an Italian digital satellite television platform owned by News Corporation. It is similar in many ways to BSkyB's Sky Digital in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and like that network it is a major sports broadcaster. , the leading Italian digital television service with more than 4 million subscribers. The multi-year agreement allows Sky Italia to use Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide's technology in its electronic program guides deployed on its various platforms, including cable boxes. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. In a separate deal announced earlier this week, Gemstar said it will be a sponsor of American Idols American Idol is an annual American televised singing competition, which began its first season on June 11, 2002. Part of the Idol franchise, it originated from the British reality program Pop Idol.  Live! Tour 2007 at more than 50 venues this summer. The tour stars this year's 10 American Idol finalists, including winner Jordin Sparks Jordin Brianna Sparks (born December 22, 1989)[1] is an American pop singer. On May 23, 2007, she was declared the winner of the sixth season of the reality television show American Idol. At 17, Jordin is the youngest winner in American Idol history. . The tour kicks off on July 6 in Sunrise, Fla. As part of the sponsorship, TV Guide has produced an 18-page Tour Guide publication, which will be wrapped around the current issue of TV Guide magazine and also given to concertgoers.
