A year after suing Nielsen Media Research to delay the rollout of a controversial method of measuring television viewership view·er·ship

The deal clears the way for Nielsen to use its Local People Meter The People Meter is a device and system used by Nielsen Media Research in the USA to allow a relatively passive measurement of the viewing habits of TV and cable audiences. The people meter was invented by a British company called Audits of Great Britain, or AGB for short.  method to gauge the viewership of the 34 television stations owned by Los Angeles-based Univision and its sister network, TeleFutura.

Univision sued Nielsen in June 2004, alleging that the Local People Meter system--which records television viewing continuously rather than through user-written viewing diaries--would undercount un·der·count

The two sides have been meeting regularly to fine-tune the system. Ceril Shagrin, Univision senior vice president of corporate research, said Nielsen agreed to tweak To make minor adjustments in an electronic system or in a software program in order to improve performance. See calibrate.
