Richard Walters (born January 14 1965), better known by stage names Slick Rick, MC Ricky D and Rick the Ruler, is a rapper.
 a.k.a. Rick James Rick James (born James Ambrose Johnson, Jr) (February 1 1948 – August 6 2004) was one of the most popular artists on the Motown label during the late 1970s and early 1980s. . His bass-heavy songs and his outrageous persona set the standard for hardcore funk, what he dubbed "punk funk." For funksters ever since, James hits like "Love Gun," "Super Freak" and "Give It To Me, Baby" have been among the guiding lights of the genre.

A new two-CD "Anthology" (Motown/UME), released June 18, 2002, tells the musical story of Rick James with 28 newly digitally remastered selections, more than 2 1/2 hours of music. "Anthology" begins in 1978 with his first recordings with the Stone City Band on Motown and continues through his brilliant theme albums to, for the first time on any James collection, 1988's "Loosey's Rap," his #1 R&B hit for Warner Bros BROS Brothers

He rocketed onto the scene with 1978's "Come Get It," which featured "You And I" (#13 pop/#1 R&B), "Mary Jane" (#3 R&B) and "Hollywood." "Bustin' Out Of L Seven" (1979) included "Bustin' Out (On Funk)" (#6 pop/#8 R&B) and "Fire It Up" (1979) boasted the title track, "When Love Is Gone," "Come Into My Life" and "Love Gun" (#13 R&B). "Big Time" (#17 R&B) and "Island Lady" were heard on the ballad-heavy "Garden Of Love" (1980). "Give It To Me, Baby" (#40 pop/#1 R&B) and "Super Freak (Part 1)" (#16 pop/#3 R&B) pumped up "Street Songs" (1981).

The R&B Top 20 "Dance Wit' Me (Part 1)," "My Love," "She Blew My Mind (69 Times)" and "Hard To Get" from "Throwin' Down" (1982) preceded "Cold Blooded" (Top 40 pop/#1 R&B), "U Bring The Freak Out freak out Substance abuse A verb, popularized in the US in the '60s–to experience nightmarish hallucinations including by LSD or a similar drug. "Lady T" is a protegé of late funk legend Rick James, and is notable as one of the few successful Caucasian R&B performers, currently the  ("Happy" and the classic ballad, "Fire And Desire") and turntable A playback machine for vinyl phonograph records, which were a major music distribution medium throughout the 20th century.
