It's not a best-seller yet, but cancelled O.J. book sells.

After the book and interview were cancelled in November, a spokeswoman for HarperCollins, a division of News Corp., said that some copies had been shipped to stores but would be recalled and all copies destroyed.

However, Publishers' Lunch stated Nielsen BookScan reported at least 100 copies of If I Did It sold across the country in the week ending December 3. Apparently, stores that got them sold a few here and there and reported the sales-14 copies in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

As Publishers' Lunch put it: "That some copies sold instead of going back to Harper-Collins' warehouse for pulping is to be expected and perhaps the real surprise is that so few leaked out."

Meanwhile, News Corp. dismissed Judith Regan, who headed the imprint that created the book, amid a storm of nasty publicity in mid-December.

Time magazine reported that the fights to the book might revert to Simpson in a year and the project could be resold for publication.
