It's groovy for movie star Mike.

STARSTRUCK customers at a city bar couldn't believe their eyes when Austin Powers popped in for a pint.

Hollywood actor Mike Myers showed he hadn't forgotten his Liverpool roots when he returned to the city and happily posed for pics at The Restaurant Bar and Grill.

Mike, who still has relatives in Liverpool, was in the UK for this year's Unicef fundraiser Soccer Aid played on Sunday at Old Trafford.

But after a busy weekend of football he couldn't wait to visit the birthplace of his mum Alice and dad Eric.

He headed to the Hard Days Night Hotel with wife Kelly and their baby son Spike to freshen up before a trip down memory lane.

First on his magical mystery tour was Mathew Street where he visited The Cavern and the Beatles gift store to pick up souvenirs. He also stopped off at The Beatles Story where he posed for photos with fellow Fab Four fans.

The Wayne's World actor also went to some of his old haunts visiting family in Garston and Allerton and stopping off at Penny Lane to reminisce over old times.

He was then wined and dined at The Restaurant Bar and Grill in Brunswick Street.

A fellow diner said: "We were all quite surprised to see Mike Myers but he really seemed to be enjoying himself and it appeared like a real family affair.

"He had booked the biggest table in the restaurant so he could fit everyone in and he also ordered a few bottles of the restaurant's most expensive champagne to celebrate.

It was a belated birthday meal as he had just turned 49 a couple of days ago."
