Israeli teens discuss life in their country.



Col. Irving Yarock Jewish War Veterans Post 32 will meet at 9 a.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 633 Salisbury St., Worcester. Two young teens from Israel will be present to speak of life in Israel and their impression of the United States.

Vernon Hill Squadron 435 Sons of the American Legion will have a meat and lobster raffle at 2 p.m. at the post, 267 Providence St., Worcester. There will be an early-bird special from 1 to 2 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will go to Friendly House.


Leominster AMVETS Post 38 will meet at 7 p.m. in the Veterans Center, 100 West St., Leominster.

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Willie Grout Camp 25 will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Air National Guard building, 50 Skyline Dr., Worcester. For more information, call Ed Norris (978) 365-7628 or visit


Disabled American Veterans will meet at 7 p.m. at the Tatnuck American Legion Post 288, 570 Mill St., Worcester. The executive board will meet at 6:30. Proposed bylaw changes will be presented and discussed.

Charles Murphy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10278 will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Ray Stone Legion Post 238, 2 School St., Shrewsbury.


The medical van owned by Veterans Hospice Homestead of Fitchburg will stop at Hardwick Town Hall, 307 Main St., in the Gilbertville section of town, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A nurse will conduct health screenings, including cholesterol and blood glucose levels and hypertension testing, and answer medical questions for veterans enrolled in the VA health care system.


Central Mass Yoga Institute is offering free yoga classes for combat veterans at 11 a.m. at the institute, 45 Sterling St., No. 28, West Boylston. All veterans are welcome; no advance registration is necessary.

Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 4 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Tatnuck American Legion Post 288, 570 Mill St., Worcester. The membership committee will meet at 6.


George L. Thorng American Legion Post 404 will meet at 7 p.m. at South Barre Road, Barre, for bingo. Doors open at 5:30. Proceeds after payout will benefit the post.


Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post 279 will have a meat raffle at 1 p.m. at the post, 88 Bancroft St., Auburn. Early-bird tickets will be sold at 12:30 p.m. There will be six tables of prime rib, lobsters, steaks, crab and much more. Open to the public. This is a nonsmoking function. Marine Corps League Worcester Detachment 144 will have an "Ice Skating Party" from 1 p.m. until it ends Feb. 7 at post quarters 181 Lake Ave., Worcester.

Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3439, North Brookfield, is sponsoring a trip to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. on Feb. 16. The bus will leave at 8 a.m. from St. Joseph Church parking lot in North Brookfield, the Big Y lot in Spencer at 8:15 a.m. and then from the Sovereign Bank parking lot in Spencer. It will leave the casino at 3:30 p.m. Cost is $28 a person. The trip is open to the public. For more information, call Ardith at (508) 867-5635.
