Is it the Party or the Game?

Before last week, the possibility of Baltimore meeting New York New York, state, United States

in Tampa for the Super Bowl was deemed highly unlikely. And with analysts predicting a heavily defensive, low-scoring game, many fans are already anticipating a dull contest. Still, watching the annual classic with friends, if not for the game then for the contest between advertisers, has become more or less an institution. So the Business Journal asks:

What are your plans for the Super Bowl?

It's more just about the event. My wife and children and I go to some friends' house where there's a party atmosphere. It's kind of a potluck, everybody brings food and there are drinks and all that. Typically, the men end up watching more of the game. It's really more of a social gathering. And then there's the advertising. It's interesting to see the ads that go up each year.

If I'm not going to Sundance (Film Festival), I will probably do something else. I've never watched the Super Bowl and I don't even care about the commercials. It's confusing to me why people would sit on the couch On the Couch is an Australian television program formally broadcast on the Fox Footy Channel and it focuses on the current issues in the AFL. This is now broadcast on Fox Sports after the closure of Fox Footy Channel.

The show airs on Monday night and is hosted by Gerard Healy.

Super Bowl Sunday consists of an annual flag football game in honor of a friend of my group and the standard Super Bowl party with food and game viewing and silly wagers - a good time for all.

My plans for the Super Bowl will probably be the same as they were last year, which is to watch the fourth quarter and then catch the debut of the big network-hyped show following the game. This year, that's "Survivor 2." Frankly, I probably will watch some of the game to catch some of the clever ads. It's gotten to the point where I look forward to the ads more than I do the game.

I think that everyone is into Super Bowl Sunday because of the party. And, as a matter of fact, the Hollywood Museum for the third year in a row is using the original Cheers set, which we have in as an exhibit, for our party. You get to drink beer and eat chili and other good things while watching the Super Bowl on big screens throughout the set. It's a fun place to party, and it makes Super Bowl Sunday special.

I grew up in Baltimore, so for me having a Baltimore team in the Super Bowl is extremely exciting. I look at this as an opportunity to revisit the 1958 NFL NFL

I'm a Minnesota native and, in my opinion, the Vikings are supposed to be in the Super Bowl. For that reason, I'm boycotting the game. I'm going to be out on the town, running errands, shopping, maybe watching a movie.
